Book Clubs

I have had the pleasure of meeting with numerous book clubs in the Tri-State area and have spoken to book clubs all over the country via Skype. I love the chance to talk one-on-one with readers, and would happily visit your book club in person, or arrange for a Skype visit. Please email me if you are interested in scheduling a book club visit. Here are some comments from clubs I’ve visited:

It was a pleasure to welcome [Yona] on Monday, January 11, 2010. We thoroughly enjoyed [her] in-depth presentation and discussion of the writer’s perspective and our “Question and Answer Period” gave us many insights into [her] characters and their story. Reading BREAKING THE BANK was like applying a salve to our chapped lips on these cold winter days on Long Island. We look forward to spending many more days reading other books by Yona Zeldis McDonough.

Tuesday, October 13th was a most special day for our reading group The B&N Bookies!!!! Our reading group meeting was graced with the presence of Yona Zeldis McDonough, the author of Breaking The Bank. This book was our October read and it was a terrific choice for our reading group. … is a page turner that lends itself to a reading group. … Not only was this book quite a treat, but the icing on this cake was having the author there to enhance our discussion. Breaking The Bank is written with humor, intelligence and charm and this must be seen as a reflection of the author herself. Yona added insight to our meeting and responded to our questions and thoughts with vivaciousness. Hands down, our reading group loved Breaking The Bank and we greatly appreciated having Yona Zeldis mcDonough join us.

We were so pleased that Yona agreed to come to our school to meet with the third grade. She adeptly guided the children through the process of non-fiction biography writing. Yona not only captivated the children with the story of Mozart, but she also brought it to life by playing the actual music Mozart wrote at an early age. The music gave the book texture and compelled the children to get out of their seats and dance! Without a doubt, Yona’s skill and passion for writing inspired our young readers and writers.

Yona Zeldis McDonough writes books with wit and elegance that combine genuine characters and authentic conflicts within addictively well-written page turners. Yona is a charming, engaging presenter. I can’t recommend her enough. First the Great Neck community fell in love with her writing, and then with her in person. Her appearance at the Great Neck Library was the highlight of last fall’s literary events calendar!

On Monday, July 15, 2013 we were lucky enough to have a visit with author, Yona Zeldis McDonough. Ms. McDonough discussed the writing of her novels, as well as read a short piece from her latest, A Wedding in Great Neck. The feedback we received from our patrons was fantastic. They found Ms. McDonough to be “very personable” and “engaging”. They were excited to ask her questions and found her anecdotes about life and the writing process to be enjoyable and entertaining. Ms. McDonough was very easy to work with and accommodating. We look forward to the release of her next novel, Two of a Kind.
